MEDELLIN, Colombia - After decades involved in an unsuccessful war on drugs backed by the United States, Colombia has decided to shift its strategy and In 2016 passed a law formally legalizing medical marijuana for both export and domestic use, paving the path for the new promising industry. The Colombian government began handing out the first medical marijuana licenses to grow, process and export, approving 78 companies so far.
